Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has made the jump to Nintendo Switch 2 with a dedicated Switch 2 Edition, giving one of the system's most sprawling RPGs a hardware upgrade years after its original release. Alongside the re-release, Torna: The Golden Country — the standalone prequel expansion — picked up a Version 2.0.0 update.
Nintendo hasn't been shy about bringing its biggest RPGs forward to Switch 2 with visual and performance improvements, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2's jump follows the same pattern we've seen elsewhere in the catalog. For newcomers or anyone who bounced off the original's rougher technical edges, this is the best version of the game to date.
Update: Nintendo has confirmed the technical specifics — the Switch 2 Edition runs at up to 4K resolution and 60fps while docked, and 1080p in handheld mode, a substantial jump over the original release's performance.
